Metamutagen
Metamutagen is an organic black fluid once produced in Titan that chaotically alters the body and weakens the spark.
Properties
Metamutagen is a dark, somewhat viscous, cohesive, opaque fluid at room temperature. It is incredibly conductive of exergy and thus energy.
Metamutagen is non-corrosive, non-volatile, non-explosive, and non-flammable. It is not very reactive; it doesn't readily form compounds with other chemicals. Despite this, it's soluble in water. It is cohesive, with high surface tension and low capillary action. It's fairly oxidizing.
It freezes at -110°C and boils at almost exactly 100°C. It has a very low specific heat capacity.
Metamutagen Poisoning
When a body comes in contact with metamutagen, it experiences a myriad of seemingly random yet often powerful mutations at all points of contact. If the body has a spark, the metamutagen pulls it apart layer by layer. Most sparks are completely destroyed, but rarely, a spark may survive if any layer happens to resists against the metamutagen. Such sparks remain further invulnerable to metamutagen, though new layers may still be torn off.
A metamutagen-poisoned fae will have far less willpower and a lower mood than before due to their weakened spark. Most likely, their spark will have deteriorated to the point that they are mostly passive. A poisoned fae can recover over time simply by refraining from contacting metamutagen and rebuilding their spark.
Metamutagen is also carcinogenic; it is directly linked to bone cancer. Its protein-altering nature may possibly cause prions, though no such link has yet been experimentally observed.
Use
Metamutagen was originally created at Titan by scientists experimenting with artificial sparks. It proved useful in embedding artificial sparks into computerized components, and in creating artificial sparks themselves. Though a necessary part, metamutagen served only as working fluid for these experiments.
