Excavation Equipment

Excavators have used various technologies to measure changes in weather and to locate balance materials in the Shifting Lands.

Some technology uses conducting materials such as bone and cirrolite, while others simply respond to the unique environment of the Shifting Lands.

Dowsing

Dowsing rods are perhaps the oldest æthereal technology in Luxtia. They involve a bone or rod of cirrolite. Larger rods are usually held with a paw or mouth, and smaller, more sensitive rods are balanced either on a mount or in a casing. They are also common components in more complex devices.

In the Shifting Lands, dowsing rods can be used to measure the relative zero state and sudden changes.

Radio

A radio interprets specific bands of electromagnetic energy as sound. Besides its use in communication, radios are also used to detect changes in the environment. Wind can influence radio waves, changing the static the radio picks up, sometimes even creating unusual patterns in the chaotic noise. These changes are detectable up to minutes before the more extreme effects of intense waves of æthereal perturbations.

Beacon

A beacon is a device that uses a large cirrolite crystal to keep the æther stable within a small region. The precisely cut cirrolite crystal is charged in Luxtia and typically lasts up to an hour.
