Synopsis

The New Low is a science fantasy xenofiction anthology involving the animal-like fae inhabitants of Luxtia: the only known region to survive The Shattering.

Characters

The story revolves around four protagonists who live by the citadel of Dione:

• Agno, a miner who found ancient relics instructing him to dig to the Cirrolite Core.
• Duke, an excavator who witnessed an exfae.
• Kira, a scholar aiding a citadel in researching The Shattering.
• Tala, a scientist who worked at Titan until metamutagen desolated it.

Themes

The New Low focuses a lot on change, especially irreversible and unavoidable change. It also takes a lot of inspiration from thermodynamics and information theory for the æther: the central element of the setting through which everything is connected.
